Rogers Environmental School
Stamford, CT
Stamford, CT
The Rogers School, an environmental magnet school located on a remediated brownfield site, fosters a vibrant learning community while demonstrating ecological stewardship. The design features four key environmental components: an intensive green roof for educational use, a rain garden for natural filtration, a rain and stormwater collection system, and a wind turbine showcasing renewable energy. As a LEED™ Silver project, the landscape and building integrate with existing infrastructure, repurposing foundation walls to house a centralized stormwater collection area. These outdoor classrooms promote inquiry-based learning and play, deepening students’ understanding of ecological systems. This regenerative project offers a new model for integrating sustainability into both the curriculum and design, shaping future global citizens.
