Boston Children’s Hospital Main Garden
Boston, MA
Boston, MA
As part of the main campus for Boston Children’s Hospital, this central healing garden and entry is designed for patients, families and caregivers to enhance the hospital’s daily experience. The rooftop garden located on the eleventh floor of the hospital’s main building serves as a tranquil refuge with quiet nooks for contemplation. This holistic garden offers breathtaking views of Boston’s skyline and harbor with lush knolls for free play, shaded seating outdoor rooms, and all season biodiverse plantings. The design thoughtfully accommodates children who are immunocompromised and those with disabilities, ensuring an inclusive space for all.
Along Longwood Avenue, a tapestry of green and blue pavers define the entry court, while a grove of birch trees and hedges frame a striking hand painted granite wall, inscribed with local flora and fauna. Together these design elements along with wayfinding signage offer a dynamic display of color and texture that enhances the welcoming atmosphere of this pediatric hospital entry experience.
