Boston Children’s Hospital Green Masterplan
Boston, MA
Boston, MA
As part of a comprehensive transformation of Boston Children’s Hospital’s main campus in the Longwood Medical District, a Green Masterplan has been collaboratively developed with Shepley Bulfinch and the BCH community to integrate gardens throughout both existing and new buildings within this urban campus. This innovative vision allows for designs tailored to individual needs, ensuring that gardens are effectively positioned in relation to patients, caregivers, and families, both now and in the future.
Within this masterplan, a new vertical hospital, The Hale Building, is incorporated into this plan, introducing state-of-the-art technology for daily care while enabling Boston Children’s Hospital to accommodate research and clinical care. Additionally, the masterplan includes a pedestrian walkway that connects the Patient/Family Garage to the main building, enhancing both inpatient and outpatient connectivity. Included in this masterplan is a satellite campus in Brookline, Massachusetts that is focused on outpatient care, linking to the main urban campus.
