Located on the south side of the Texas Medical Center, the MD Anderson South Campus Bridge and Gardens project transforms an 11-acre former parking lot into a cohesive, human-centered research environment shared by MD Anderson and UT Health. Integrating existing facilities with new research, laboratory, and educational buildings, the landscape connects institutions through a unified design of gardens, flexible lawns, and vibrant plazas that foster collaboration and respite. Native and drought-tolerant plantings, bio-retention, and porous paving enhance ecological performance, while shaded pathways and gathering spaces promote accessibility, well-being, and community across the campus, which is currently under construction and slated for completion in 2028.
