Battersea Power Station

London, England
Our finalist Battersea Power Station plan envisions a dynamic and regenerative urban experience by creating a central civic space that seamlessly integrates landscape, art, and architecture. Nestled within this historic setting, a mass timber and steel bridge connects the two upper gardens, celebrating the site’s heritage while serving as an iconic gateway connection the various sides of the site. This bridge frames a mist fountain at the lower plaza level, activating both levels of the plaza, while designing for flexible programming across three distinct landscape zones: the central sunken garden which is flanked by two contrasting spaces – lush rain gardens to the west that focus on biodiversity and sustainability, and a public urban plaza to the east, which hosts cultural activities, outdoor cafés, and markets. Together, these designed rooms come together to create a lively and diverse environment for visitors year-round.
