The Stratum
Portland, OR
Portland, OR
Inspired by the power and beauty of the geologic and natural phenomena of the Willamette River Valley, the stratum project is a series of geologic totems along the new bridge. The sculptural elements define the bioswales along the street edge, acting as a gateway environment defined by the speed of the users as they pass through this important threshold. Layers of various recycled and formed materials create a stitched surface that represents earth, water, and sky as the gateway to the Sellwood community in Portland.
